BREAKING: Karl Gallagher of Monaghan is invited to try out for a position with the Adelaide Crows.

Gallagher was first considered as a possible recruit by the AFL team in 2019.

MONAGHAN FOOTBALLER KARL Gallagher has been invited to the Adelaide Crows’ preseason training in order to try out for a Category B rookie place.

The 21-year-old was initially recognized as a possible recruit at an AFL Combine testing day in 2019. He played for Monaghan, which advanced to this year’s All-Ireland semi-final.

Gallagher’s skills include good speed, agility, and a vertical leap. He has also worked with Mark Keane in Ireland, according to Crows National Recruiting Manager Hamish Ogilvie, who made this statement on the team website.

“He showed incredible promise at the 2019 combine, but Covid dampened Irish recruitment hopes for a few years.

However, we kept in touch, followed his career, and noticed that he was eager to take on new challenges and had a positive outlook.

“While there are no assurances, we are excited to watch him compete.”

Gallagher would be the first person from Monaghan to receive an AFL contract if he were to succeed.
