Erik ten Hag ‘on thin ice’ as Man Utd consider Zinedine Zidane

United lost 3-0 to Manchester City just days ago but a different lineup and different competition didn’t bring a different result.

Erik ten hag is now under immense pressure – and we are starting to see rumours about who could replace him.

Zinedine Zidane eyed to become next Manchester United manager

The Times now report that Ten Hag is on ‘thin ice’ and could soon lose his job at Old Trafford.

The defeats to City and Newcastle have left Ten Hag in real danger and Zinedine Zidane is thought to be of interest.

It’s stated that United view Zidane as a potential replacement, but any deal is complicated by the club’s takeover situation.

Zidane is out of work having left Real Madrid for a second time in 2021.

The Frenchman has been heavily linked with the French national team job but United could offer him a return to club management.

My view: Zidane carries enormous name value for United job

Zidane coached Real Madrid’s Castilla side before taking the top job in January 2016, embarking on a period of incredible success.

Zidane famously won three Champions League trophies in a row between 2016 and 2018, whilst he has also won La Liga twice, the Supercopa de Espana twice, the UEFA Super Cup twice and FIFA Club World Cup twice.
The 51-year-old has an amazing record, having only lost 36 times in 263 games during his two stints as Real Madrid’s manager. Although some could argue that Zidane was more of a man-manager than a tactical genius while at Real Madrid, winning that many trophies comes with having a good tactical sense. There have been rumors that Ten Hag lacks the charisma necessary to get the best players at United to respect him. In addition to his stellar playing career reputation, Zidane’s charisma has been praised by Carlo Ancelotti, the current Real Madrid manager. We can see Zidane’s appeal in this situation, but it might be asking a lot to be tempted into the current mess.
