Manchester United defeated Sheffield United with a goal from Diogo Dalot. Diogo Dalot, a Portugal international, scored the game-winning goal for Manchester United over the weekend when his effort from outside the box found the top corner.
Dalot’s strike capped a 2_1 over Sheffield united , a much-needed three points for Erik ten hag ‘s side.
It wasn’t just the goal from Dalot which earned praise. His overall performance was lauded after Manchester United’s win.
Diogo Dalot praised
Speaking to MUTV’s Matchday Review, former Manchester United trainee goalkeeper paul Woolston craft praised Dalot’s contribution.
He pointed out the defender’s work rate and team ethic, which has made him such a valued part of the team.
Woolston said: “It’s great to see, he’s definitely got an engine on him. It’s the runs sometimes when he doesn’t get the ball he’s still committing players, asking questions, for someone else to get on the end of it.
“To see his work rate, his wanting to be there, he’s up and down the pitch all day long. He’s a different player since he came back from his loan away, he’s come back and keeps improving, he’s nowhere near the finished article yet but the improvement he’s made is massive.”
Co-pundit Sammy McIlroy also talked up Dalot’s displays and noted his versatility.
He said: “He’s definitely improved his performances since start of the season, and since he came. He’s definitely finding the way United want to play. He’s got great feet, can play both sides of the park, he’s doing very well at the moment.”
Dalot is essential player
Diogo Dalot has been performing at a high level this season and Manchester United are just grateful to have him available at all.
Every other senior full-back at the club is-currently out injured , creating a major headache for manager Erik ten Hag.
Dalot has filled in on the left, and the right, and he is an essential player in the team right now. Even when everybody is back fit again, Dalot is showing he deserves to keep his place.
His goal was the icing on the cake, and with Dalot’s determined attitude, you know he will be hungry for more.
