Manchester United have been linked with a move for 23-year-old French defender Jean-Clair Todibo, a top target for Sim Jim Ratcliffe.
A report from Dean Jones on Give Me Sport has claimed that Sir Jim Ratcliffe could push to secure the services of 23-year-old Frenchman Jean-Clair Todibo services for Manchester United.
Todibo currently plays for OGC Nice, and the French club are owned by Sir Jim Ratcliffe. He is expected to finalise a minority stake at the Premier League club now, and it remains to be seen whether he can facilitate the transfer.
Manchester United need to bring in defensive reinforcements, and the 23-year-old has emerged as a viable target. He has proven himself in French football, and he has the technical attributes and physicality to succeed in the Premier League as well.
The 23-year-old is still quite young and is likely to improve with coaching and experience. He could be a key player for Manchester United in the long term. The Red Devils could easily at least one of Harry Maguire, Raphael Varane, and Victor Lindelof in the coming months.
Todibo could be a quality long-term replacement for one of the trio. Given Ratcliffe’s association with OGC Nice, Manchester United might be able to sign him for a nominal price as well. Meanwhile, the 23-year-old Frenchman is likely to be tempted if there is a concrete offer on the table from Manchester United.
They are one of the biggest clubs in the world, and moving to the Premier League would be a major step up in the Frenchman’s career. He has previously had an unsuccessful spell at Barcelona, and he will want to prove himself at the highest level.
There is no doubt that the 23-year-old has the quality to play for big clubs, and he could help Manchester United tighten up defensively. Lisandro Martinez seems like the only long-term defender at the club right now, and the Red Devils must prioritise the signing of a quality central defender in the coming weeks.
